Real candles, not the cheesy electric ones a lot of the churches have.

See the Bernini!

After a lot of the usual running around we decide to go to S. Agnes. Here we’re almost back to the hotel, by S. Maria Maggiore.

Leave the Metro station to see the church!

Inside St. Agnes, where Bernini’s Ecstasy of St. Theresa lives. No crude jokes, please. There were so many idiots snapping guaranteed-shitty on-camera flash pictures of the sculpture that I couldn’t bring myself to become one […]

The phrase “harsh tutelage” keeps running through my mind. I don’t know why.

Outside. Standard Rome building, perhaps last painted in Mussolini’s time. Fortunately the city is sliding back into its old sooty funkiness after the big cleanup for the Giubileo in 2000.

Museum trip!

Back to Rome pictures again. We visit the Capitoline hill museums. I still didn’t get to see the colossal head of Constantine. Next time. Museums are frigging gruelling.

Children were harassing the pigeons at the entrance.
