Something we were doing in a lesson, putting this very useful paradiddle inversion pattern— RLLR-LRRL— into some ordinary rock grooves, as embellishments. I didn’t compose these to be awesome grooves, these are the types of things you try incorporating these types of patterns into your playing.
The guiding principles are a) I want to preserve the SD/BD in the plain groove, b) I want to shove some patterns in there in a reasonably natural way. Play through the things, notice how they operate, try it your own way with some different grooves or patterns.
