Sketch page for working with a particular rhythm idea— a tresillo rhythm extended by two beats, repeating the syncopated middle note. Some interesting things are happening there, there is some similarity to a partido alto type rhythm, and to our familiar Afro 6 rhythm. It could also be called rumba clave shortened, by two beats. I’m always surprised at how these little technical investigations work out, the connections between existing things.
I’ve written some variations on it, and written the implied rhythm as accented 8ths, triplets, and 16ths; and put it in 6/8 time.
