Rudimental Reed: two methods

A whole lot of snare drum happening right now. Here are two pretty basic things to do with Syncopation on the practice pad, first with short rolls on the short notes and paradiddles on the long notes, and then adding flams to triplet accents. Do these with pp. 34-45 in Syncopation.

Rolls and paradiddles
Short notes (notes in an 8th note spacing) = play as two double strokes
Long notes (notes with greater than 8th note spacing) = paradiddles, extended with more doubles as necessary

At slower tempos you can play the rolls on a 16th triplet pulsation

Triplet flams and accents
Play as accented triplets, alternating sticking, with flams on all of the accents— except between two flams on the last partial.

Bonus method: add drags after the flams— except where it would be followed immediately by another flam. Look at the example and figure out the logic for the exceptions, it’s easier to see it than to explain it.
