Syncopation exercise – space – 01

For my own practicing, this week— all of this is for my own practicing, this week. I plow through a lot of material, keeping my eye on the overall. This is a full page reading exercise, involving single notes, greater than quarter note spacing.

The usual Reed systems generally hang off of denser groups of 8ths and quarters, so we’ll mostly be treating these as kicks— hitting the written notes on a cymbal, with bass drum in unison— and filling in the spaces in between, with 8ths, triplets, or 16ths. I’ll make some more specific suggestions for how to approach it in a different post.
