I don’t know what we call this, “triplacues”? Quasi-irregularly spaced (in this case) flammed triplets, with a accent after the flam, flamacue style?
…look, if there was ever any qualm about giving something drumming related a stupid name, that ship sailed a long time ago. I’m still embarassed to tell new students we have something called a paradiddle the first time. They want to get into something cool, and I’m telling them we’re going to learn about some googlyhahas, teeheemamas. Doodlyheehees. Get off your high horse.
…anyway, there’s a lot of left hand leading stuff on the site lately, and I don’t know what it means. Is my natural left handedness asserting itself, am I figuring out something new about how playing the drums works, and I just don’t know it yet? Unknown. But I do a lot of this kind of thing, leaning into a muscular, Tony Williams-like thing on the tom toms, in irregular groupings. It’s an improvised thing, I didn’t work it out.

The stickings are alternating starting with the right hand, or mostly-alternating, with all the flams played left handed. I’ve given stickings for the flams and accents each of those ways— everything else alternates.
I am happy to help you with any of the materials on the site, and with anything else drumming related— contact me for private lessons, online world wide, or in person in Portland, Oregon. All levels of players, and all people, are welcome.
