Ho ho ho, right-side diddles

Is that festive? I hope everyone’s holidays have been wonderful— here’s what I do, in between movies (A Christmas Story, then Die Hard, maybe later Brazil. Wife is on a Terry Gilliam kick):

This has recently come up by accident with several students, of different levels of experience, as we’re working on their paradiddles— they’ll play the doubles with the right hand only. RLRR-LRRL, instead of the normal RLRR-LRLL. I could try to beat the error out of them, or I can help them assimilate it. They already learned it without even practicing it. To me that’s natural drumming trying to happen.

So I wrote up a lot of obvious possibilities, exploring the concept:

I’ve omitted some superfluous stickings— where nothing is indicated, alternate. You can burn your eyes out looking at that stuff. Sometimes underlining the diddles helps. These will be good velocity patterns, easy to do fast. Pencil in your own accents on some of the other single notes.
