Left-leading density patterns – 01

Continuing this page of left handed rudimental/rudiment-like exercise patterns, getting into some very dense activity, forcing some speedy movement. See this post for the justification for getting into the odd tuplets at all— it’s not for their own sake, it’s to get a certain level of density. I do this type of thing naturally already— it came about through doing a lot of free, unmetered playing— this gives that a better shot at working out well in a metered environment.

As with all of this type of thing, practice each pattern for 30 seconds to one minute. Set the metronome either on the dotted quarter note, or on the 8th note. The actual rate of the fast parts of the patterns can be fairly uniform, meaning you’ll play the earlier patterns faster, and the later ones slower.
