Trading 8s on Inner Glimpse, from McCoy Tyner’s album 4×4, with Al Foster on drums. Tempo is 260, normal burner range, and everyone is slamming.
The trading begins at 4:40 in the track:

On the third break, what I’ve written is close to what is actually played— that’s how the notes line up, the exact rhythm as Foster perceived it may be different. He’s flailing the singles in, and laying the bass drum along with it. The rhythm of the bass drum sounds a little like the accents in Three Camps, so that could be a way of developing this as a solo idea— the repeating triplet lick with the hands, Three Camps accents on the bass drum.
The triplets at the end of the last 8 are likely played with a 6 stroke roll sticking— RLL-RRL.
