!I should let my loyal readers know, I’m letting a few old Paiste cymbals go, that I bought when I was on a Paul Motian/Billy Higgins/general Paiste kick around the early teens. Portland drummer Ron Steen also used the heavier Paistes then, and I had some experience playing them at his jam sessions. I wrote a little about that whole journey here. They’re great cymbals, but very different from where I’ve gone in recent years with my Cymbal & Gong stuff.
Let me know if you’re interested, and I can post video of the other cymbals— interested parties will know how they are, you probably won’t want these if this is your first exposure to them! $35 domestic shipping on any cymbal, actual cost for international.
22″ Paiste 602 Dark Ride – $1000
3288g – pre-serial, apparently
70s style silk screening (faded), Formula 602 cold stamp. Drilled for six rivets by Gregg Keplinger. Slight keyhole.
14″ Paiste Sound Creation Dark Sound Edge Hihats – $500
1172/1218g – serial #839816 / 839817
22″ Paiste Sound Creation New Dimension Dark Ride – $550
3218g – serial #479660
Well used condition, drilled for six rivets, no logo on top, keyhole.
22″ Paiste 602 Medium Ride – repair – $250
3026g – serial #009168
Approximately 1.5″x.25″ repair in the edge, drilled for one rivet at the repair. Keyhole, metal abraded ~.5″ around the hole, top of cymbal. Sounds perfectly fine, I assume the repair has dulled the sound slightly, but I can’t hear it.
While we’re at it, I also have this 1960s A. Zildjian I don’t need:
22″ A. Zildjian Sizzle Ride – $200
2862g – 1960s
Silkscreened (faint) “SIZZLE” on top. I’ve played one 22″ “Sweet Ride” in my life, this one reminds me of that, similar stronger bright sound, similar highish round bell. Some tape residue on the bottom.
I used at least the 602 Dark on this record— maybe the hihats:
