CYMBALISTIC: another Seattle meet

CYMBALISTIC: We had a little lightning round in Seattle on Wednesday, with my brother— John Bishop— and D’Vonne Lewis and Will Lone coming around to play these fine Cymbal & Gong cymbals. D’Vonne and Will each got some hihats and a crash— a crash-ride in Will’s case:

At the very end we see that Will had a nice little ensemble sound with those three cymbals— top/bottom hihat cymbals and ride. You don’t usually look for that, but it was too perfect to pass up.

As always, we had to talk about how we’re used to hating most cymbals, and get our heads around the fact that they all sounded so good. Liking everything makes us uncomfortable. Someone also made a comment that they had basically the right amount of character. I’ve made the point many times that too-amazing, fascinating-sounding cymbals don’t always make great instruments. The Cymbal & Gong cymbals just have a great ride sound, and crash sound, and bell sound, that is in character for the kind of music we’re playing, and they are easy to play.

I am looking to do more of these kinds of things— we’ve done several meets in Seattle, and in various locations in Germany, there’s no reason I can’t hop on a plane with a bag of cymbals if there are a few drummers who want to look at them, with a reasonable likelihood of buying if the cymbals prove to be any good. We could always pair it with a clinic or some lessons or some such. Drop me a line.

Also, since I have moved the store to the Shopify platform, it has gotten much easier to do returns/exchanges on domestic purchases… and for you to pay over time, if you prefer. I still I have a bunch of great cymbals on hand— we’ve been selling a bunch, but I keep getting new ones in— so hop on over to Cymbalistic, see if there’s anything you like.
