Another pretty substantial tweak to one of my other Reed systems— converting a very ordinary system, accented triplets, to paradiddle inversions— RLLR-LRRL. Actually there’s very little to it, I just think it’s worth spending some time with it, a good 7-15 minutes.
We’re moving the accents in the above system to the tom toms— RH to the floor tom, LH to the high tom— and playing that over some Latin-type ostinatos with the feet.

It’s pretty straightforward. I’ve included a lot of options for the feet, it might be reasonable to cover all of those over a few months, assuming we all have other things to do with our lives. Except for the clave rhythm on the hihat— that’s a specialty item, a luxury item.
You’ll notice this creates a distinct batucada type feel— leading it with the left hand will put that in a more normal orientation, with the low tom sounding on the 2/4.
This all connects very closely to some other late Latin materials— like the tresillo unit, the “songodiddles”— as well as the recent “burnout” pages.
